Lamp with wedge-shaped distributor for light beams

A flat lamp radiating from one or two sides has a wedge-shaped transparent distributor for the light beams. The apex of the wedge points away from the bulb and the light from the bulb impinges on the flat, wide, base of the wedge. From here it undergoes several reflections before it emerges from the sides to pass through a diffuser to the side walls of the lamp unit. One side of the wedge may be a full reflecting surface. The diffusers can be carry information signs, so that the light beams act as rear illumination.
