The device includes a first tube (3) penetrating the layers of skin and tissues surrounding the blood vessel and a wall of the blood vessel, the first tube (3) having a distal end portion insertable into the blood vessel and a proximal end portion disposed outside the blood vessel but within the body. A second tube (4) is disposed within the first tube (10), the second tube (4) having a distal end portion insertable into the blood vessel through an opening (7) defined at the distal end of the first tube (3). The first and second tubes (3 and 4) define coaxially disposed channel (6) which establishes a fluid path for a fluid. The first tube (3) has a capillary aperture (5) in a distal end portion. The fluid is delivered from the channel (6), outwardly through the aperture (5), the fluid remains on the outer surface of the first tube (3) to coat the outer surface of the first tube (3) with the fluid, thereby creating an anti-infective barrier. |
