An ambulance stretcher frame support comprises bearers 13 mounted on angle irons 14 sandwiching and pivoted to brackets 11 attached to box-like members 9 provided with nuts 10. On rotation of screwed shafts 8 by means of gearing, the stretcher support is moved up or down on rollers 12 contacting channel-section members 6a at each end of the support. The gap between the tops of the angles 14 is partly closed to provide support when the frame is horizontal whilst permitting the frame to pivot upwardly so that it may be lowered on the shafts 8 to present its underside as a seat back, Fig. 4. The seat base S may be removed to carry a further stretcher on channels 13a the front channel of which is carried on slide members which may be drawn out.
