摘要 Mapping of electrophysiologic activation within the human heart is achieved for areas within the myocarbium by utilizing a catheter (32) having at least one pair of orthogonal sensors (34-46) disposed on the catheter (32). Orthogonal sensors (34-46), which are comprised of electrodes generally disposed circumferentially on the catheter (32) at given longitudinal points spaced 1-5 millimeters along the catheter (32), receive signals which are within a differential amplifier (50) to produce a signal indicative only of the localized biopotential heart activity at a predetermined point in the myocarbium. The orthogonal sensors (34-46) are disposed adjacent to the stimulating tip (58) of the catheter (32) to allow sensing of the localized cardiac activity adjacent to or in contact with the tip during the pacing procedure or during the delivery of energy during ablation. Sensing of the localized activity occurs simultaneously with pacing or ablation so that electrocardiograms of the stimulated or ablated tissue can be recorded.
