PURPOSE:To facilitate manufacture and to improve versatility by recording magnetically information on a track including an area where magnetic recording and reproduction are difficult and deciding on the truth or falsehood of the magnetic recording medium from specific data on the track, and erasing magnetic record upon occasion. CONSTITUTION:When a magnetic card is inserted into terminal equipment, data 5 is reproduced or rewritten, and data 6 for decision making is written on the data track 4 for decision making by a magnetic head and read and further erased by an erasing head upon occasion. An identification code 3 is left when the data for decision making is written and reproduced, so no reproduction output is obtained from this part. The kind of the card and the truth or falsehood of the magnetic recording medium are identified from the presence and absence time, interval, number of reproduction outputs of the data track 4 for decision making. Consequently, the magnetic recording medium which is prevented from being counterfreited and easily manufactured and also has large versatility while its truth or falsehood is easily identified is obtained. |
