A copper-alloy bearing suitable for use with low-rigidity housings comprises a steel backing metal, a copper-alloy layer and an overlay, the backing metal containing from 0.03 to 0.26% by weight of carbon. During the production of the slide bearing, the backing metal is rolled to give a total rolling reduction of 10 to 35%, and the resultant bimetal is heat-treated at a relatively low temperature, so that the backing metal has a 0.01% elastic limit of not less than 300 N/mm<2>. |
