PURPOSE:To prevent the accident of the collision of a machining head with a work, etc., by preventing the malfunction of a detector at the time of piercing. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal cutting machine by which copying control is executed to the machining head 1 so that a gap 4 always becomes the constant during cutting by detecting the gap 4 between the machining head 1 and the work 3 with a non-contact type detector, while the work 3 is pierced with the machining head 1, the copying control is turned off, and after piercing, the copying control is turned on at the place where the machining head 1 is moved by a prescribed distance L (or a prescribed time) from the piercing position to execute the cutting of the work 3. By this method, since the detector does not execute the malfunction, the trouble such as the collision of the machining head 1 with the work 3 and the impossibility of cutting because of being too far away from the work 3, can be eliminated. |
