PURPOSE:To obtain a conjugate fiber having durable and excellent thermal properties and fiber properties taking advantage of the heat-absorption and generation caused by the phase-transition of a latent heat-accumulation material and suitable for clothes. CONSTITUTION:This conjugate fiber is composed of a sheath part consisting of a thermoplastic polymer and a core part consisting of a latent heat- accumulation material. The areal ratio of the core part in the cross-section of the conjugate fiber is 5-70%, the latent heat-accumulation material has a melting point of 5-70 deg.C, a heat of fusion of >=30J/g, a heating loss of <=10% and a water-solubility of <=10% and the conjugate fiber has a single fiber denier of 0.5-20d, tensile strength and elongation of 1.0-7.0g/d and 10-100%, respectively, knot strength and elongation of 0.5-6.0g/d and 5-80%, respectively, a boiling water shrinkage of <=20% and a hue (b-value) of <=6. This invention also relates to the process for the production of the fiber. |
