摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To provide highly durable lightweight hollow articles by diffusion joining separately preformed sections, like blade half bodies of airfoil. CONSTITUTION: The hollow articles are produced from the preformed first section 10 and second section 12 having joint surfaces 10g and 12g isolated from each other and intermediate walls 17 and 19 between these joint surfaces. (a.) The joint surfaces of both sections are disposed to face each other and are combined by delineating cavities 15 between the intermediate walls 17 and intermediate walls 19 of both sections. (b.) The cavities are deaerated under first working conditions to exert an external pressure to tightly join the joint surfaces. (c.) The larger second external pressure is exerted on the first section under second working conditions to diffusion join the joint surfaces. (d.) The internal pressure is exerted on the cavities to shape the intermediate walls in order to relieve the strain of the intermediate walls under third working conditions. As a result, the highly durable hollow articles of applications requiring high performance are cost effectively produced by successively selecting the low-pressure diffusion joining conditions and high-pressure diffusion joining conditions.</p>
