PURPOSE:To improve efficiency of polishing work by moving a circulatively running endless polishing belt to be inserted and passed between teeth of a material for a fork and bringing the polishing belt into pressure-contact with the side faces of the teeth in a polishing device in which the side faces of the teeth of a material for a fork, which is used for eating, are polished. CONSTITUTION:A fork material is held by a holding part, 3 in a feeding part 4 to be moved intermittently according to an intermittent rotation of a rotary table 2, and a moving platform is advanced by a cylinder 13 for forward/ backward movements of a moving mechanism 9 when the fork material stops in the position facing the first belt running mechanism 5, and then a polishing belt T is inserted and passed between teeth of the fork material. Then, a pressure-contact cylinder of a pressure-contact mechanism is operated so that the polishing belt T is brought into pressure-contact with the side faces of the teeth. Under this pressure-contact condition, the moving platform is advanced/withdrawn by the moving mechanism 9 so as to polish the side faces of the teeth. As for the rest of the teeth of the fork material, their side faces are polished by the second-the sixth belt running mechanisms 5 at the same time, and then the polishing work is finished. |
