PURPOSE:To prevent unnecessary opening and shutting of an automatic door by a method wherein a moving body-detecting apparatus for the automatic door is constructed so that the direction and speed of moving of a moving body such as a human body entering the watching area is detected and a signal for opening can be outputted to a door opening/shutting device, based on the detected direction and speed of moving. CONSTITUTION:The title apparatus is equipped with an image input part 1 in front of which a watching area is provided, a first image memory 21 and a second image memory 22 that store two images taken in by the image input part 1, and a detecting device 2 that detects a moving boy entering the watching area by comparison between the two images stored in the first image memory 21 and the second image memory 22 and detects the direction and speed of movement of the moving body. The detecting device 2 calculates, when the direction of movement of the moving body is within the width of the opening of the door, the time for the moving body to reach the door, based on the speed of movement of the moving body. |
