PURPOSE:To provide a thermal ink jet recording apparatus modulating the amt. of an ink droplet over a wide range to perform gradation expression of a sufficient level. CONSTITUTION:One printing dot is printed by nozzles 5a, 5b adjacent to each other by two and the heaters 7a, 7b corresponding to the nozzles 5a, 5b are connected to individual electrodes 12 in parallel. The heaters 7a, 7b have different areas and are mutually different in the threshold value energy emitting ink droplets. Therefore, when applied power is a first value, only the nozzle 5a emits an ink droplet and, when applied voltage is a second value larger than the first value, ink droplets are emitted from the nozzles 5a, 5b to make it possible to change the size of a printing dot. |
