PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber without coloring by further treating regenerated collagen fiber treated with an aldehyde with a boron hydride compound. CONSTITUTION:For example, an oxhide or a cowhide is solubilized in an alkali and the resultant spinning solution composed of solubilized collagen is used, spun and then introduced into a treating bath containing an aldehyde, e.g. acetaldehyde or glutaraldehyde to impart water resistance to regenerated collagen fiber, which is further dipped in a treating solution containing sodium boron hydride and/or potassium boron hydride and treated to afford the objective regenerated collagen fiber with extremely slight coloring which cannot conventionally be obtained by decoloring action with those agents. The white regenerated collagen fiber is suitable as a substitute for human hair, animal hair, gut, etc., or synthetic fiber, etc., of hair for dolls. |
