PURPOSE:To remarkably improve desulfurization activity by making weight decreasing ratio by firing in a gel before firing a specific value and then, firing in producing hydrodesulfurization catalyst made of a multicomponent oxide containing group VI B metals, group VIII metals and aluminum. CONSTITUTION:In producing a catalyst used for reducing sulfur content by catalytically hydrodesulfurizing a hydrocarbon oil containing sulfur compounds, at first, (a) at least one of an aluminum alkoxide, an aluminum chelate compound and cyclic aluminum oligomer, (b) at least one kind of group VI B metals and (c) at least one kind of group VIII metals are mixed in a solvent. The hydrodesulfurization catalyst made of the prescribed multicomponent oxide is obtained by drying the useful component formed by mixing to make the gel and firing. In this case, the catalyst having excellent property is obtained by firing after the weight decreasing ratio by firing in the gel before firing is controlled to be 55-75%. |
