PURPOSE: To prevent bacterial adhesion and colony forming in a catheter and decrease danger of a blood infection in a patient with the catheter by structuring a thin hydrophilic layer on a surface of the catheter in which lipodalbaheptide antibiotic is precipitated. CONSTITUTION: A central venous polyurethane catheter has a thin hydrophilic coating on a surface. The catheter is prepared by incubating a polyurethane catheter with a coated hydrophilic film in an aqueous solution of a selected lipodalbaheptide antibiotic in an amount of 2-50 mg/ml, preferably 5-40 mg/ml, at a temperature between 10 deg.C-60 deg.C, preferably 20-40 deg.C, for a variable period of 5 minutes to 48 hours, preferably 10 minutes to 24 hours. And, for the hydrophilic surface coating of the catheter, a relatively large amount of the lipodalbaheptide antibiotic can be permeated into the surface layer and bonded to the catheter surface only in outer part of the layer. |
