PURPOSE:To obtain a polypeptide useful as an antimicrobial agent because of its having excellent antimicrobial activity almost free from toxicity. CONSTITUTION:A new peptide of the following amino acid sequence formula Arg-Ser-Leu-Leu-Leu-Leu-His-Leu-Arg-Leu-Lys-Y (Y is carboxyl group (COOH) of lysine residue of carboxyl end of peptide of this invention or carbamyl group (CONH2) obtained by amidating its carboxyl group or its salt. An antimicrobial agent comprises the new peptide or its salt as an active ingredient.
