PURPOSE:To obtain a retort pouch cooked rice having low calorie, excellent in long-term keeping quality, appearance and texture and useful for health, etc., by blending a specific granular gel with rices, packing the blend in a container and carrying out treatment of heat sterilization, etc. CONSTITUTION:A semi-solid material having a composition consisting of 1-30wt.% starch, <=20wt.% dextrin, 0.1-7wt.% gelling agent, 1-20wt.% turbidity- providing agent such as powdery cellulose and 40-97wt.% water content is extruded, cut and formed into granules to afford granular gel of cooked rice-like food, etc. Preferably 20-60wt.% granular gel is blended with rices and further, as necessary, water is added thereto and the blend is packed in a container capable of carrying out heat sterilization and subjected to heat sterilization or retort treatment to provide the objective cooked rice. |
