PURPOSE: To control the zebra hard-shelled mussels in a water system by using a dialkylallyl quaternary ammonium polymer of the amt. effective as a mollusk animal repellent. CONSTITUTION: The growth of the zebra hard-shelled mussels is controlled by adding the affective amt. (0.1 to 2,000 ppm, more particularly 5 to 50 ppm) of the dialkylallyl quaternary ammonium polymer, more preferably polydimethyldiallyl ammonium chloride having an average mol.wt. of 5,000,000 to 20,000,000 more preferably 10,000 to 3,000,000 to the water system in which the zebra hard-shelled mussels are included or there is a tendency of the growth of the zebra hard-shelled mussels.
