A plate and clip for use in a check valve and a check valve and method of making the same are provided. The check valve comprises a valve body having a generally hollow cylindrical shape. The body has end flanges, a side wall, a valve seat, and a center rib. Generally, semi-circular plates are located within the valve and are pivotally connected on a hinge pin which extends generally parallel to the rib. A stop pin is also provided which extends across the valve body parallel to the hinge pin. The stop pin serves to limit the degree of opening of the valve plates. A spring having end legs biases the plates into sealing contact with the valve seat and the rib.
