PURPOSE: To provide a smaller linear link which can substitute for an existing lost motion type link device and is useful for other applications. CONSTITUTION: This linear link is provided with a linear outer member 5; an inner member 6 being collinear with the outer member 5 and telescopically movable relative to the outer member 5 between terminal positions which define the degree of lost motion; formations 7, 27 in adjacent zones of the inner and outer members 5, 6 to correspond in linear position at one of the terminal positions defining the degree of lost motion; and one or more catch members 19, 20 for releasably cooperating with the formations 7, 27 when in alignment to selectively permit or prevent the lost motion. The linear link includes a retainer member 21 movable axially relative to the link for selectively urging the catch members 19, 20 into engagement with the formations in at least one of the inner and outer members 5, 6, and a coaxial solenoid coil 17 for controlling the operation of the retainer member 21. |
