PURPOSE:To offer a preparing device for dot pattern data for registration of a tape printer, where dot pattern data of alphadetical and numeric characters which are referred to when a pattern is prepared can be referred to in the maximum size in a register pattern region. CONSTITUTION:When a reference key is pressed (S24: Yes) after a register key is pressed to create a dot pattern for registration, a character code that is designated by a cursor in a document input screen is read in. When the character of the character code read in is an alphadetical capital letter or a numeric character, the dot pattern is prepared so that it has the maximum vertical size, and the dot pattern is displayed as a reference dot pattern so that the center line of the reference dot pattern agrees with the vertical center line of a register memory area (S25). After that, a cursor movement key, a shift key or a function key is pressed (S26) and the dot pattern for registration is prepared based on the dot pattern (S27). |
