Device for trimming plants, such as grass and the like, comprising a motor casing, a motor which is contained therein and has a motor shaft and a reel which is supported by the shaft for at least one cord, of which the or each end section is unwound and cut off over a predetermined length and is rotated around the motor shaft in a working plane which is perpendicular to the motor shaft, as well as a handle which is connected to the casing, a delimiting element, which is connected to the casing, being arranged on that side of the casing which is remote from the handle, which element extends above the working plane and, as seen in the axial direction, inside the circle covered by the cord, and is provided with a curved outer circumference, of which the outer surface, which is remote from the shaft, can move with respect to the said shaft, in order to prevent the cord from breaking and to provide good guidance for the device.
