For reasons of space, in pieces of furniture which can be closed, in particular cupboards 1, swinging-sliding doors 9 are used for closure. The cupboards 1 have in this case a shaft 3 which is mounted perpendicularly to the sliding direction opposite the opening side of the body 2 and which is provided with at least two toothed pinions 12 which are arranged at a spacing from one another and engage in corresponding racks 10, 11 connected rigidly to the door 9. At the same time, these racks 10, 11 are mounted slidably on the shaft 3 transversely to its longitudinal axis.
