PURPOSE:To obtain a satisfactory image free of soiling of base by returning developer, which has been removed by a cleaner used for removing the residual developer from an image carrier, to a second development device. CONSTITUTION:A toner image formed on the photoreceptor 2 by a first development device 14 is transferred and fixed to transfer paper at a transfer station 6, and then the paper is ejected out of the device. The toner remaining on the photoreceptor 2 after transfer is recovered by the cleaner 8. The toner recovered in the cleaner 8 is recycled for prescribed development after carried by means of a carry screw pipe 11 to the toner hopper part 17 of a second development device 15 which is formed small for the purpose of the miniaturization of the entire device and which is arranged further upstream than the first development device 14 in order to use space effectively in relation to the location of the first development device 14. At this time, the first development device 14 and a toner hopper 16 contain only fresh toner, and the second development device 15 and the toner hopper 17 contain only the recovered toner. |
