PURPOSE:To compress character pattern data with the use of a compressing method which suppresses redundancy by making the appearance frequency of data partial while making the combination pattern of one data constituting the character pattern data and last data correspond to fixed data for reproduc tion when the combination pattern appears frequently. CONSTITUTION:An uncompressed font pattern data storage part 101 aims at respective data constituting a character pattern and detects the frequency of the combination of the aimed data and its last data and a key word selection part 105 generates a key word table when the combination is high in frequency. A data appearance frequency counting part 107 makes this key word table correspond to command codes for reproduction to allow the appearance frequency of the data to be deviated. A compressed code table generation part 109 generates a compressed code string having its redundant part cut corresponding to the appearance frequency of the data. A compressive encoding part 112 substitutes the compressed code string for the character pattern data. |
