PURPOSE:To provide an infrared-ray type human body detector which can prevents erroneous operation due to a small animal and pop noise and has a highly reliable human body detection capability. CONSTITUTION:A detector body S is installed at a wall surface W, etc., and a detection beam region determined by the position relationship between focusing parts 11 and 12 and infrared-ray detection elements 21 and 22 is a separate configuration where its bottom side L is in parallel with a bottom surface F and it is divided into an upper detection beam region BU which is expanded to the height of approximately the stature of a person M and a lower detection beam region BD which is expanded to a position near the floor surface F and at the same time the upper and lower detection beam regions are set to the same polarity.
