THIN-FILM MAGNETIC-HEAD ASSEMBLY PROVIDED WITH WEAR-RESISTANT THIN LAYER, THIN-LAYER BASE AND ITS MANUFACTURE

摘要

PURPOSE: To produce a thin film magnetic head assembly excellent in wear resistance at a low cost. CONSTITUTION: An insulating wear resistant layer 56 of diamondlike carbon is joined to an Al2 O3 -TiC substrate 52 contg. titanium carbide particles through a 1st joint accelerating layer 54 of amorphous silicon carbide and an electromagnetic circuit forming part 62 is stuck to the layer 56 through a 2nd joint accelerating layer 58 of amorphous hydrogenated silicon. The wear resistant layer 56 has increased hardness and surface finishing is made unnecessary.
