PURPOSE:To aim at the effective utilization of energy to a desired basic wavelength by obtaining an effective refraction basis of a real value of the change efficiency and a real value of the reflectance, and making this result feedback to the design of the SHG element. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 102 of LiNbO3 of an SHG element 100 is formed with an optical wave-guide 104. This optical wave-guide 104 is provided with periodical polarization reversing areas (domain reversing area) 106 so that refraction factors n1, n2 thereof are different from each other, and areas, of which period is changed locally, are provided to form parts for satisfying the simulation phase matching condition (QPM SHG part) 110 and parts for satisfying the black reflecting condition (DBR part) 120. With this structure, the SHG wave emitted from the SHG device in two directions are synthesized by an optical synthesizer to utilize the full of the energy output from an LD as a basic wave light source, and the SHG efficiency can be improved practically. |
