PURPOSE:To provide the TN type liquid crystal display element of high quality with superior visibility by improving visual field angle characteristics of the TN type liquid crystal display element. CONSTITUTION:The TN type liquid crystal display element which has a liquid crystal cell 3, formed by sandwiching TN type liquid crystal between two electrode substrates, and an optical compensating element 7 arranged between two polarizing elements 1 and 2 arranged on both the sides of the cell 3 includes at least one optical compensating element 7 which meets a condition 10 nm<=(nx-ny)d<=70nm, where nx and ny are main refractive indexes in a surface of the optical compensating element 7. |
