PURPOSE:To eliminate a transfer efficiency change due to the ununiformity of volume resistivity over the circumference of a transfer means. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with an initial position detecting means for detecting an initial position at carrying and driving transfer means, pattern image reading means 10a and 10b for reading a pattern image which is formed and carried on the transfer means by a pattern image generating means at least at two parts in a direction vertical to the carrying direction at every specified timing, storing means 42 and 43 for storing the pattern image data which is read by the pattern image reading means 10a and 10b at every prescribed timing, a transfer current controlling means 20 for calculating mean value data out of the data which are obtained at least at two parts in a main scanning direction of the pattern image data stored by the storing means 42 and 43, calculating subscanning direction interpolation image data out of the pattern image mean value data in the subscanning direction at every specified timing and controlling the transfer current for the transfer means over the circumference of the transfer means in the carrying direction based on the calculation results. |
