The invention concerns a self-opening and closing lid 1 in a kichen cabinet unit or the like, and one or more storage vessels or the like 6a, 6b, 6c, 7 designed for removal from the cabinet. The lid 1 is rectangular in shape. The lid 1 covers an opening in the one or more vessels in question. The two opposite long edges 13 of the lid 1 have been provided with a fixed opening or a fixed recess 10 at a point between the end edges 14, which openings 10 are situated essentially in line with each other in the longitudinal direction of the lid 1. The openings 10 divide the lid 1 into two longitudinal parts, of which the rear part 8 placed in the rear part of the cabinet is heavier than the front part 9 left in the front part of the cabinet. The support frame 4 which can be placed in the cabinet and supports the vessels 6a, 8b, 6c, 7 has been provided with securing members 3 which cooperate with the fixed openings 10 in such a way that when the carriage 5 and vessels are removed from the cabinet, the lid 1 is resting on the securing member 3 and when the rear part of the vessel or the rear part of the rearmost vessel has passed the rear long edge of the lid 1, the lid 1 begins to open on account of the effect of the force of gravity while the rear part 8 of the lid 1 pivots downwards and the front part 9 moves upwards analogously. <IMAGE>
