DATA-PROCESSING SYSTEM, PERIPHERAL SUBSYSTEM AND THEIR OPERATING METHOD

PURPOSE: To give the time correlation of a prescribed data processing event between the loose coupling program-type units of a data processing system environment by providing a data storage means and a data processing event means connected to a time stamp means. CONSTITUTION: A time mechanism contained in the host processor 10 part of a data processing system is read and present host time is obtained. Present host time is supplied to a peripheral sub-system 12 as a host time stamp. The peripheral sub-system 12 stores the host time stamp in the time correlation item 58 of the data storage part of the peripheral sub-system 12 with the present clock time of the peripheral sub-system 12. The peripheral sub-system 12 detects and indicates the prescribed data processing event. The indications of the prescribed data processing events which are detected and indicated are stored in the prescribed items of a log or a file with an event time stamp generated by reading a peripheral sub-system clock.
