THIN FILM TYPE ELECTROLUMINESCENCE ELEMENT

PURPOSE:To provide a thin film type EL element having high color purity and capable of emitting red luminescence. CONSTITUTION:A luminescence layer 4 is laminated with at least the first layer 4a and the second layer 4b. The first layer 4a is mainly made of a compound having a lattice constant before lamination larger than that of the compound constituting the second layer 4b, and manganese is added to it as a luminescence center impurity. The difference between the lattice constant of the main compound of the first layer 4a before lamination and the lattice constant of the compound constituting the second layer 4b before lamination is 5% or above, and the peak value of the emission spectrum of the luminescence layer 4 is 590nm or above.
