PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of optical flow. CONSTITUTION:In this method, first and second image pickup means 11, 12 whose visual fields are shifted in a horizontal direction and overlap in the only part are provided, the accuracy curves A, B of optical flow are derived from the image pickup signals of both image pickup means 11, 12 and are made to overlap with each other, an image pickup means imparting the accuracy curve of the lower value of the accuracy curve in an picture element range where these overlap is preliminarily specified, and the optical flow by the preliminarily specified image pickup means is selectively extracted in the picture element range where the optical flow overlaps when an image pickup is practically performed for an object to be imaged by both of image pickup means 11, 12. Thus, the accuracy of the optical flow in the vicinity of the optical center of both of the image pickup means 11, 12 can be remarkably improved. |
