<p>PURPOSE: To obtain an initiator for air bag inflator, having a structure withstanding against vibration and bending in which the adjusting power is enhanced, while simplifying the manufacturing process. CONSTITUTION: A metal bridge initiator 16 for firing an air bag initiator 26 is deposited on a thin plastic film substrate 12. The bridge 10 can be tuned by adjusting the width and thickness of the substrate 12. The bridge 10 is of a compact size, enabling an increase in the strength of the initiator 16 in the initiator area thereof. The intimate contact between the deposited metal bridge 16 and plastic substrate 12 makes the initiator 10 resistant to vibration, bending and damage.</p> |
