To reduce mechanical oscillations (galloping) in an overhead electrical conductor, two different designs are described. One has two or more damper cables wound in a spiral around the conductor, completing at least one whole turn. At each end there is a spring termination, clamped to the conductor. The second design has several spiral-wound cables hanging downwards from a termination, clamped to the conductor, and carrying a damping weight. The pitches of the cable spirals are all different. The cables are metal but may even be plastic.
