Positioning aid for edge grinding of spectacle lens

The positioning aid is used accurately to locate the lens (6) between the half spindles (1,2) of an edge grinding machine. It consists of a self-adhesive plastics, metal or paper strip (9) which is folded to produce on one side a ridge (12) corresponding to a recess (7) in the holding block or cup (3) of the edge grinding machine.The strip and lens are positioned relative to each other in a centring machine and the aid stuck to the surface of the lens. The lens is then transferred to the edge grinding machine and held with the ridge (12) of the strip in the recess (7) of the holding block.
