A circuit for monitoring current, comprising a pair of optical isolators each having a pair of inputs terminals and a pair of output terminals, the pair of input terminals of a first one of the optical isolators being provided for receiving an input current to be monitored, and the pair of output terminals of the pair of optical isolators being configured as a differential amplifier for generating a zero volt output in the event of equal currents being applied to each the pair of input terminals, an integrating amplifier having a pair of inputs connected to the pair of output terminals and an output connected to the pair of inputs of a second one of the optical interrupters for applying a mirror current to the pair of input terminals of the second one of the optical interrupters which is equal to the input current, and circuitry connected to the pair of input terminals of the second one of the optical interrupters for converting the mirror current into a voltage proportional to the input current.
