Coin operated coupling for supermarket trolleys

The coin operated mechanism is used to release a lock system that connects such items as supermarket trolleys together. The lock mechanism is built into one plane of a housing and has a pair of latches (2, 3) that are spring located to engage with the key element (6) of an adjacent unit. Located on a different plane above the lock mechanism is an entry point for a coin. With the coin inserted and retained, the lock is released to allow separation of the units.
