Reciprocating piston engine with two crankshafts

The two crankshafts (3,4) have cranks (7,8) and bearings (5,6), which are offset relative to each other in longitudinal direction of the engine. The bearings are supported on one side in the crankcase (2). Cylinders with pistons are located in rows, parallel to the camshaft.The planes containing the cylinder axis enclose an acute angle, which opens in direction towards the crankshafts. The transverse distance between the longitudinal planes containing the cylinder axis is smaller than that distance between the camshafts.
