The wiretapping preventing method and apparatus comprises the steps of: checking whether a radio telephone is a calling state; if so, checking whether a wiretapping preventing button is depressed; if yes, transmitting a sine wave synchronizing signal and counting the number of synchronizing signal pulses through a base unit, and detecting the synchronizing signal and counting the number of the synchronizing signal pulses through a portable unit; if the number of the synchronizing signal pulses is a predetermined number, changing a channel to the next programmed channel; and checking whether the calling state is completed, thereby securing the user from wiretapping.
