A modular system for constructing gates with at least one leaf standard width can be adapted to various widths using wedges (2,3,4,5) fixed to uprights or leaves and posts (6) thicker than the thickest wedge for fixing to the gatepost where the opening is wider than the standard leaf. Wedges are of several thicknesses and heights for convex or concave gates of various heights on gate and hinge side. The device includes screwed shank type hinges with upstanding pin. Leaves range from one to two metres wide and wedges ten to forty millimetres thick. USE/ADVANTAGES - Suitable for most widths, easily adaptable, obviates need to buy made-to-measure gates.
