An elongate article (40) having a core (42) and an outer skin (43). The core (42) consists of synthetic waste material (M2), for instance household waste material, and has the machinability and processability properties of wood and a specific weight ranging between approx. 0.65 and approx. 0.9. The length of the article is approx. ten times greater than the smallest transverse dimension. The outer skin (43) encloses the core (42) on all sides and is shaped substantially simultaneously with the core in one and the same mold, but consists of a material (M1) different from that of the core.
