The present invention relates to a method and to a device for automatically inverting the position of a drawbar coupled to an agricultural machine for working the soil. This device essentially comprises between the machine (1) and the drawbar (3), means (10) which can be actuated by tension on the drawbar (3) in order to cause it to pass automatically, when it is uncoupled, from a transverse position which it had at the end of a first strip of land to an inverted transverse position at the end of a second, adjacent, strip of land to allow it to be taken up by a traction vehicle at the end of the successive adjacent strips of land, without intervention on the drawbar.
