PURPOSE: To provide a dye having very good light-fastness and good spectral absorption characteristics. CONSTITUTION: A dye-donor element for use according to a thermal dye transfer method and the dye-donor element comprises a dye layer comprising at least one tricyanovinylaniline dye and the amine functional group of aniline of the dye-donor element carries an aryl group and a hydrocarbon or a substd, hydrocarbon group linked by the secondary carbon atom to the amino group.
