CONTROL OF HYDROFORMYLATION REACTION

PURPOSE:To provide a process for controlling a hydroformylation reaction to facilitate the control of the production ratio of aldehyde. CONSTITUTION:An aldehyde is produced by the hydroformylation reaction of an olefin with an oxo gas and a recycled gas in a reactor. The partial pressure of carbon monoxide in the reactor is controlled by controlling the purge flow rate of the recycled gas extracted from the reactor. The production ratio of the aldehyde can be adjusted to an arbitrary level by this process. The control is carried out by a model predictor control method to store a process model in a control computer, successively input a series of input data to the model to predict the output data series and use the input data series giving an output data series having least difference from the target value as the operation quantity.
