PURPOSE:To provide the material for an element which firstly has a very high luminance light output, secondary has a variety of luminescent wavelengths and shows various luminescent hues and very high durability, and thirdly can be produced easily at a relatively low cost. CONSTITUTION:The element is composed of an anode, a cathode and at least one layer of an organic compound sandwiched therebetween, and at least one of the layers contains a compound represented by the formula (wherein Ar is a condensed polycyclic aromatic group consisting of at least three benzene rings; and R is alkyl, aralkyl, aryl, alkoxyl, aryloxy, hydroxy or hydrogen). |
