METHOD FOR REMELTING METAL BY MULTI-ARCS

PURPOSE:To produce a high quality cast ingot having various kinds of components in the case of remelting a metal by using consumable electrode. CONSTITUTION:Multi-electrodes 20 are provided above a mold 10. The multi- electrodes 20 are constituted of a main electrode 21 consisting of the consumable electrode and sub-electrodes 22a-22c, and high temp. multi-arcs M are injected downward. The consumable electrode is melted by arc-heat and this molten metal is dropped into the mold 10 through the multi-arcs M to form the cast ingot 50. Since the arc-current is not allowed to flow through the cast ingot 50, the generation of surface flaw is prevented. The impurity in the molten metal is removed by the high temp. multi-arcs M.
