Date Apr. 30, 1992.A control device for a hydraulic work cylinder has a housing having an inlet, an outlet, and a valve seat, a shut-off valve having a valve body cooperating with the valve seat of the housing and having a further valve seat, a pilot valve member arranged in the valve body and cooperating with the further valve seat of the valve body under the action of a spring force. The housing and the valve body form therebetween a pressure chamber so that the valve body under the action of a pressure in the pressure chamber is pressed against the valve seat of the housing. The pilot valve member has a valve member part and a plurality of pilot portions arranged in series. Two throttles are arranged in series so that the pressure chamber communicates with the supply of the housing through the throttles and the pilot valve member is located between the throttles. The pressure chamber is connected with the outlet of the housing through the pilot valve member and a passage which opens by the pilot valve member.
