PURPOSE:To produce a plain bearing made of a Cu allay having excellent characteristics by dispersing Cu alloy powder having a specified compsn. on a back plate made of steel, repeatedly executing sintering and rolling to make a bimetal into a bearing and forming an overlay layer thereon. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a back plate by a low carbon steel sheet cong., by weight, 0.15 to 0.26% C and having >=440N/mm<2> 0.2% proof stress is scattered with particulate powder of <=250mum of a Cu alloy having a compsn. by weight constituted of 15 to 30% Pb and 0.5 to 8% Sn, and the balance Cu. It is sintered at 700 to 900 deg.C in a hydrogen gas-contg. reducing atmosphere, is thereafter passed through a rolling roll, is rolled and is furthermore subjected to resintering and rerolling to regulate the total of the draft in the back plate part into 10 to 35% and to make a bimetal. The bimetal is subjected to pressing and machining and is formed into a bearing having a semicircular shape. Furthermore, the surface is applied with an overlay having a compsn. constituted of 3 to 18% Sn, <15% In and <3% Cu, and the balance Pb. The Cu allay plain bearing having high strength and high in adhesion to housing and followup ability to the deformation of housing can be obtd. |
